Maintain a clean skin all the time. Although acne starts not because of dirt accumulated in your skin, having clean skin all the time will prevent more infection if you already have pimples starting to develop in your skin. Keep your hand off your face. This will prevent transfer of bacteria in the affected skin too. Washing your skin with a gentle cleanser will also help you get rid of excess oil, which starts to clog the pores on your skin, initiating the development of the first signs of this skin problem.
Drink plenty of water. Water is essential in flushing and cleansing our bodies from toxins and helps a lot in maintaining beautiful skin. Practice drinking the recommended eight glasses a day and make it habit. Think of it as one of the simplest tips to prevent acne that you can do at home, in school, or at the office. Your frequent visit to the toilet is just a little sacrifice you will appreciate if it means having clear skin.
Avoid stress and have enough sleep. If you have been staying up late and not having enough sleep, you may find your skin being oilier. This will trigger the clogging of pores resulting to early signs of acne or breakouts. Aside from getting enough sleep, other tips to prevent acne include learning some relaxation techniques and engaging in regular exercise to help you overcome stress and balance the hormones in your body.
Avoid cosmetics and makeup if possible. Makeup is supposedly used to conceal blemishes and imperfections on the face but you have to be careful too as this can cause clog pores, which can start to the development of white-heads, blackheads and more severe forms of acne. Sleeping with your makeup on can also make you more prone to developing acne. Always clean your face before going to bed. If you can’t get away with using makeup, choose those non-comedogenic ones which do not clog the pores.
Probably the most practical thing you can do if you have developed bumps or pimples on your skin is not to prick or squeeze them. This for sure will make your skin condition worst. Pricking or squeezing the pimples that have developed pus can spread infection making the problem worst.
Among the very basic tips to prevent acne is to also have a healthy diet. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables will help a lot in having a healthy skin. Beware though, as there are foods that might trigger breakouts of acne. Among them are lentils, corns, grains and milk.
